Read Across America
Read Across America Week at Rusk Intermediate — A Wild, Wacky, Wonderful Celebration of READING
At Rusk Intermediate, we don’t just read books, we throw a full-blown reading celebration that’s louder than a library whisper and way more fun than a pop quiz. It’s called Read Across America Week, and it’s one of our favorite times of the year!
Why do we celebrate? Because reading is a big deal. It takes us on adventures, teaches us new things, makes us laugh, and gives us all the brain fuel we need to be the best Eagles we can be!
Here’s how we bring the bookish fun to life:
- Celebrity Readers – From firefighters to principals to folks from the school board, we invite our community superheroes to come read stories aloud. It’s kind of like storytime, but with way cooler guest stars.
- Dress-Up Days – Pajamas, silly hats, mismatched socks, and even full-on character costumes, you never know what you’ll see in the hallways! One day you're reading a mystery, and the next you're sitting next to a kid dressed as Dog Man.
- Reading Celebrations – We find fun, silly, and sometimes surprise-filled ways to celebrate reading every day of the week. Because honestly, reading + fun = unstoppable power.
It’s a week full of smiles, stories, and surprises — but no matter how we celebrate, it all comes back to one thing: a love for reading. Because when students fall in love with books, they grow in confidence, curiosity, and creativity.
So grab your favorite book, your wildest socks, and your best story voice — because at Rusk Intermediate, Read Across America Week is the kind of reading party you never want to leave!
