About Us

misty.townsend@ruskisd.net Misty is a proud Rusk native & a 1998 graduate of RHS. As a lifelong small-town girl, she considers it an honor to serve the community & school district that helped shape who she is today. Misty has served as a teacher, Director of Curr. & Instr., Asst. Principal, & now Principal of Rusk Intermediate. She is passionate about building strong relationships, supporting teachers, & creating a school where every student feels valued, challenged, & inspired to succeed.

jon.luna@ruskisd.net Mr. Jon Luna is the Assistant Principal at Rusk Intermediate School and is beginning his 25th year in education. He has served as a teacher, assistant principal, dean, and principal. He and his wife, Amanda, a counselor at G.W. Bradford Primary, have two sons: Jonathan, who works in Longview ISD, and Andrew, who is studying music education at East Texas A&M University. Mr. Luna is committed to student success, school safety, and strong partnerships with families.

trista.silvey@ruskisd.net Trista Silvey is the school counselor at Rusk Intermediate School. This will be her 3rd year in Rusk, but 20th year in education. She loves working with 4th & 5th grade students, helping them learn to navigate life whether they are having trouble in class or with friendships. She also enjoys teaching them skills to help mold them into the best person they can be. She’s very excited to welcome back the 5th graders and to meet & get to know the new 4th graders.
