Celebrity Readers at Rusk Intermediate — Where Our Community Stars Shine!

At Rusk Intermediate, we roll out the red carpet for some very special guests, our Celebrity Readers! These aren’t Hollywood stars, but they’re just as important to us: local heroes from our community like board members, doctors, first responders, veterans, retired teachers, courthouse staff, city employees. Basically, all the cool people who keep Rusk running smoothly!

These awesome celebs visit our campus on special occasions like World Read Aloud Day (a day dedicated to celebrating the power of stories read out loud , because sometimes hearing a story is way more magical than reading it yourself) and Read Across America Week (a week full of reading fun inspired by Dr. Seuss’s birthday and a nationwide love for books).

Why do we love having Celebrity Readers? Because listening to someone read aloud isn’t just fun, it helps spark imagination, improve reading skills, and shows our students that stories connect us all. Plus, it’s pretty hilarious watching grown-ups try to do all the voices in a story (spoiler: some are better than others)!

Most importantly, it’s a chance to bring our community and school family together. When a firefighter reads about dragons or a judge shares a funny tale, it reminds students that learning and reading are for everyone and that our community is full of people who care.

So here’s to our Celebrity Readers, thanks for sharing stories, laughs, and your time. We love having you on campus and can’t wait to hear what you read next!
