Each year, our fourth graders at Rusk Intermediate throw on their boots (real or imaginary) and head to the Cherokee County Show Barn in Jacksonville, TX for one rootin’-tootin’ good time: Ag Day!
Hosted by our amazing friends at the Cherokee County Farm Bureau and Rusk FFA (shoutout to the real MVPs of all things agriculture ), Ag Day gives our students a chance to see just how much of their everyday lives depends on the hardworking world of ag. From the food they eat to the clothes they wear, and yes, even the marshmallows in their cereal.
Students rotate through interactive, hands-on stations featuring everything from livestock to soil science, and maybe even a tractor or two. They’ll learn how milk makes it from cow to carton, why bees are basically the unsung heroes of Earth, and how farming isn’t just about overalls it’s science, technology, and a whole lot of heart.
It’s fun. It’s educational. And it’s one of our favorite days of the year.
Because at Rusk Intermediate, we believe learning should go beyond the classroom even if that means dodging a goat or two along the way.
Thank you to our community partners for making Ag Day an unforgettable, moo-velous experience every year!
